Idea/Meeting Page

Do you have an idea for an upcoming event? Maybe you are looking for a trail riding buddy? Do you have something you would like to be discussed at the up coming meeting? If so, submit it here and everyone can view it before the meetings. Just submit them to the webmaster.

At our last meeting in January, a couple of clinic ideas popped up:

• Gee suggested a clinic for cow cutting, possibly a two-day stay in Culpepper, VA. The horses can spend the night at surrounding farms. Gee will check on dates and fees.

• Gee is also interested in doing a clinic with Michael Richardson, who was at the Timonium Expo. He is a paraplegic from a car accident. He rides in special equipment and teaches communication and balance. Gee will check on the fee.

• Doing a show series like SMHA or Free State with as a group. (Riders going to first show March 25 include Wanda Melton, Whitney Williams, Kris Welch ... anyone else?

• Driving with our own horses (email Pat Hrubiak to discuss further)

• Rock Creek Park trail ride (email Gee Wood to discuss further)

• Trail ride at Maxwell Hall Park (email Maren McMichael to discuss further)

• Clinic with Janice Cole at Old Hope Farm with picnic afterwards or perhaps a series of clinics (email Val Levin to discuss further)

• Round pen clinic with Ray Wheeler and our own horses (email Hope Jacob to discuss further)

Want to host a Covered Dish?

Louis is has offered her pool party & barbeque in the summer at my community pool - as a Board
member of many years - the only perk is free guests! She has a lovely
25 meter lap pool in addition to a general purpose family pool, a BBQ area,
volleyball court, two horseshoe pits, and four tennis courts.....not
exactly horsey, but a nice twist on the covered dish dinner - with other
optional activities instead.

Meeting Ideas:

We could find a speaker (Hope suggested Linda Crandall or Pam Link)- the idea of a co-housing development with an equestrian theme - for those of us without
the means to buy a horse property of our own, or for those who aren't
enthused about being tied down by having horses on their own property.

Overnight Mini-Vacation with our horses at

Acadia National Park in Maine

Longer-term idea for summer or early fall 2008: - arranging transport for those
without trailers - reserving space at the stables there - utilizing the 58
miles of Rockefellar-built carriage trails/roads - finding moderate lodging
nearby - hiking in the park - beautiful coastlines - Bar Harbor Maine for
shopping and dining.... Ever since Louis discovered this a few years ago, she has
wanted to do it, but would never attempt on her own, without a group!

How about a trip to ride at Gettysburg?

FUN SHOW

Donna and Tim Pacen have offered to do the Fun Show.  Please contact them should you be willing to help.  Also, Wanda has offered her farm fur us to use for the fun show/luncheon should anyone wish to do this.  Louis, Whitney, Mary and Shiela are also interested in coordinating the fun!

Other Activities

• Anyone want to go on a fall fox hunt?

• Anyone interested in a group buy maybe at Dover? Etc?
